ABOUT ME
Director, Cinematographer, Filmmaker.
Megan McRitchie is a Scottish director with a focus on amplifying underrepresented voices and bringing working-class stories to the forefront.
Her unique storytelling approach seamlessly blends grounded realism with introspective, dream-like scenarios, allowing audiences to explore their innermost thoughts. Through her films, Megan delves deeply into the complexities of human connection, illuminating the intricate bonds that tie us together. Her narratives often revolve around the quest for belonging, capturing the nuanced journey of finding one's place in the world and fitting in.
Bio
Megan McRitchie is a Scottish filmmaker currently based in Glasgow. She is a 2023 graduate from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, having studied a BA in filmmaking.
Her most recent work includes the short film Échappé, which explores a burnt-out ballet dancer who must decide if they will keep on dancing or leave the life they have built behind in pursuit of some kind of freedom. As well as "Withered Hand: How to Love EPK" a short documentary that follows the Edinburgh-based band as they record and launch their new album.
She has previously been mentored by BAFTA-nominated screenwriter Hannah Kelso in the development of her first feature film.
Megan has worked in a variety of roles across different productions, most recently as a production assistant on Blair Young's "Since Yesterday" documentary.
Megan hopes to write and direct fiction, documentaries, and music videos in the future.

Short documentary following Edinburgh-based band Withered Hand as they record their new album ‘How to Love’ - their first album in over 10 years.
Co-created by John Black under the mentorship of Blair Young. This project was over a year in the making.

Firewater - Dundee Promo
Short Promo Co-Created with Michael Kearney, for Glasgow nightclub as they open their new location in Dundee.
Filmed entirely on camcorder to emulate the retro nostalgic feeling of the nightclub.
Used to promote club on Social Media.

A series of monologues that explores the often fine line between friendship and romance and the confusion this causes. His feelings buried deep inside comes spilling out in a drunken phone call that goes straight to voicemail.

Untethered
A collaborative video art project produced in collaboration with the Contemporary Performance Practice course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. This film was shot entirely in one shot with the camera and crew playing an essential role in the performance.
